The Joint committee of IISC (Indian Institute of Science) and 7 IIT’s (Indian Institutes of Technology) together created the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) that is conducted every year and can be defined as an all-India entrance examination, that is organized to get admission in different engineering colleges for pursuing postgraduate courses such as M.E, M.Tech. The same is also considered as the entrance for getting admission in the various post graduate courses offered by the NITs and IITs of the country.

GATE 2016 Counselling:
In this article, we will discuss about the complete procedure of the online computer-based examination GATE, 2016 and GATE 2016 Counselling. According to the GATE 2016 Counselling Dates the result of GATE 2016 will be announced on 19th of March 2016. And after this GATE 2016 Counselling Process will take a head start. This year, the counselling will not be common for all the institutes; rather the respective colleges will have their own liberty to conduct separate processes to process applications and to conduct the GATE 2016 Counselling.
So the final decision about the selection in the colleges will be made through the GATE 2016 Counselling and it will be decided by considering the rank obtained in the exam by the student as well as the performance of the student in Group Discussion (G.D) and Personal Interview (P.I).
It is recommended to the aspirants of GATE 2016, to check the notifications of individual colleges like IITs, IScs and apply accordingly. However, for admission to the NITs a common process of counselling will be followed. It should be noted that the candidates might need to apply to the IITs and IIScs before the announcement of GATE 2016 result and the GATE 2016 Counselling. So it is suggested to take a look at GATE 2016 Participating Institutes in Counselling and submit the application accordingly. GATE 2016 Counselling Fee will vary from institute to institute.

GATE 2016 Counselling Procedure:
The documents required for the counselling process are GATE, 2016 Score Card, Engineering Academic Record (Mark sheets), Receipt of the Registration/Application Fee, PwD category certificate, SC/ST certificate ( if applicable), ID proof and mark sheet of class 10th.
Candidates need to register themselves individually for counselling and after that they have to pay the GATE 2016 Counselling Fee accordingly. Students will also be able to opt for the programs and institutes according to their preferences. After successful completion of the process, candidates will be selected as per their merit list and the same will be published online.
The last step is to visit the allotted institutes personally and completing the formalities of admission. If a candidate does not take admission on the declared date, then the seat will be allotted to another candidate.
