Study MBA in Australia without GMAT but work experience

Australia offers great opportunities for international students because of its great education system that ensures a bright future and successful career. There are many top Australian universities that offer recognized Study MBA in Australia programs. Students graduating with a business degree from Australia receive high salaries. This is because there are many high-ranked universities in the country. Many universities accept GMAT scores but Australian universities are flexible when it comes to GMAT. You do not have to give the exam as a MBA aspirant. Hence, you need not worry about giving the GMAT unless you are applying to schools such as Melbourne School. But it is always better to give GMAT exam as it may give you a better chance to get into one of the top business schools. GMAT may not be required but you may need work experience.

Work Experience

Most of the top Australian universities require minimum full-time work experience as one of their admission criteria. As such, candidates require a minimum of two or three years of work experience in order to be eligible for applying. There are around five or six universities in Australia that accept candidates without prior work experience.

Educational Qualification: Minimum qualification is a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent

  • Candidates can take either GMAT or a similar entrance exam
  • Candidates must have at least 3 to 4 years of full-time work experience
  • Students from non-English speaking countries must provide proof of proficiency in English by their scores on language tests such as TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or PTE (Pearson Test of English Academic)

GMAT Scores for Australian Universities

A high GMAT score might increase the chances of admission but showing comprehensive work experience could compensate for low scores. This is because schools that do ask for GMAT scores specify their cut-offs. This cut-off varies across Universities. The GMAT scores are valid for 5 years and these scores must be sent directly to the university or business school.

MBA requirements in Australia for international students

Here are a few other requirements:

  • Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree from recognized institution
  • Candidates should meet the English language requirements
  • A valid GMAT test score with a minimum test score of 650
  • Minimum years of relevant work experience
  • Candidates should also provide a personal statement of 1000 word highlighting their career goals and skills
  • Candidates should also provide two reference letters and the contact details of the referees
  • An updated CV or resume

  • For undergraduate program should have overall score of 6.5 or more and no band less than 6.0; students with an overall score less than 7.0 must take a diagnostic language test on enrollment at the university
  • For MA and Ph.D.  programs overall score should be 7.0 or more and some program require 6.0

  • For undergraduate program overall score should be 6.5 or more and no band less than 6.0
  • For graduate programs overall score should be 7.0 or more and no band less than 6.0
  • Australia National University
  • Diploma program should have overall score of 6.0 or more and no band less than 5.5 in each element
  • For regular degree programs the overall score should be 6.5 or more and no band less than 6.0
  • For law programs the overall score should be 7.0 for the whole exam or more and no band less than 6.0 in each element
  • University of Queensland
  • For undergraduate and graduate program overall score should be 6.5 or more and no band less than 6.0 in each element
  • University of New South Wales
  • For undergraduate and graduate program overall score should be 6.5 or more and no band less than 6.0 in each element
  • For undergraduate pre-law and business program overall score should be 7.0 or more and no band less than 6.0 in each element
  • For Master of Teaching (Secondary) program overall score should be 7.5 or more and at least 8.0 in speaking and listening, 7.0 in reading and writing
  • For Master and combined PhD/Master program of Psychology overall score should be 7.0 or more and no band less than 7.0 in each element
  • Monash University
  • The overall IELTS score should be 6.5 or more and no band less than 6.0 in each element
  • University of Western Australia
  • The overall IELTS score should be 6.5 or more and no band less than 6.0 in each element but master’s and doctorate degrees require a higher score
  • University of Adelaide
  • For undergraduate program overall score should be 6.5 or more and no band less than 6.0 in each element
  • For graduate program overall score should be 6.0 in Writing and Speaking, and at least a 5.5 in Reading and Listening
  • Macquarie University
  • The overall IELTS score should be 6.5 or more and no band less than 6.0 in each element

  • There is no general IELTS requirement
