The University of Melbourne is the second oldest university and the oldest in Victoria. It is a public research university of higher education and research located in Melbourne, Australia. The university was founded by Hugh Culling Eardley Chiders in 1853. Initially, it was only a bunch of buildings in the large park on the fringe of the city, with just four professors and 16 students.
